• Concerned DCs will take call to open schools in flood affected areas besides to ensure safety of students in tandem with various departments
Chandigarh, July 16:
All government, recognized, aided and private schools of the state will remain open from 17th July, 2023.
Divulging the details in this regard, Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains informed that on the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, all the schools of state had been closed in view of incessant rain and floods till July 16.
Mr. Bains said that all the Deputy Commissioners of the state have been instructed to coordinate with the Panchayat Department, Education Department, Local Government Department, Irrigation Department, Public Works and other related departments to ensure that government/aided/recognized and private school buildings are safe for students.
"The heads and management committees of all schools were also instructed to ensure at their level that the school buildings are safe for students. “School heads and the school management committees would be held responsible for security of the students, he added.
Apart from this, the Cabinet Minister also instructed all the Deputy Commissioners of the state that if problem of water logging in any school or locality still remained or any school building is damaged, then the concerned Deputy Commissioner will take the decision at his/her level to open or close the concerned school.
