फाजिल्का में पहले विधायक बने अकबर अली पीर

भारत विभाजन से पूर्व फाजिल्का क्षेत्र में मुस्लिम अधिक संख्या में थे। 1941 की जनगणना के मुताबिक फाजिल्का तहसील में 75.12 प्रतिशत मुस्लिम थे। मुस्लिम बहुसंख्या में होने के कारण विभाजन से पूर्व यहां मुसलमान ही विधायक बने हैं।

पंजाब विधानसभा के चुनाव 1937 में हुए तो फाजिल्का मुहम्मदन रूरल सीट से अकबर अली पीर ने जीत हासिल की। उन्हें 38.11 प्रतिशत मत मिले। वह 5 अप्रैल 1937 से 19 मार्च 1945 तक पंजाब विधानसभा सदस्य रहे। दूसरे विधानसभा चुनाव 1946 में हुए तो मिया बाग अली सुखेरा विधायक बने। उन्हें 61.9 प्रतिशत मत मिले और वह 21 मार्च 1946 से 4 जुलाई 1947 तक विधायक रहे।
इसके बाद जब भारत विभाजन हुआ तो फाजिल्का के प्रथम विधायक चौधरी वधावा राम बने।

Akbar Ali Pir became the first MLA in Fazilka
Before partition of India, there were more Muslims in the area of Fazilka. According to the census of 1941, there were 75.12 percent Muslims in Tahsil of Fazilka. Due to the Muslim majority, Muslims have been the only legislators before partition. In the elections of Punjab assembly in 1937, Akbar Ali Pir won from Fazilka Muhammadan Rural seat. They got 38.11 percent of the votes. He was a Punjab Assembly member from 5th April 1937 to 19th March 1945. In the second assembly elections held in 1946, Mia Bagh Ali Sukhera became the MLA. He got 61.9 percent of the votes and he was a legislator from 21 March 1946 to 4 July 1947. After this, when India was partitioned, Fazilka's first legislator Chaudhary Wadhwa Ram,
